Our History
(This information was provided from Sis. Flora Beasley)
The Morrison Street Church of Christ was built in 1955 by Mr. Woodson Vance and his co-workers. The late Brother Mogellon White (Lebanon, Tennessee) helped to establish the church. Brother A.C. Holt from Michigan was the first minister to conduct services in the church. He preached for four weeks, followed by Bro. Bishop, who preached for several days.
Other ministers who have served the church on down through the years to the present time are: Bro. Alfred Rucks (Bellwood, TN) who preached for a short while; Bro. Rondall from Mississippi, preached for several months. Bro. Rondall and his family resided in the basement of the church, which included living quarters. After his departure Bro. Rucks came back and preached for seven years. Bro. Jack Wooten (Nashville, Tennessee) preached for seven years. Bro. Jack Wooten (Nashville, Tennessee) preached for eight years, followed by Bro. Albert Neal (Nashville, TN). The next preachers to follow, were Bro. Charles Sharfner, Bro. John Russel Staten, Bro. Ronald McCarver and for the present time, Bro. Johnny Lee Claiborne.
